When my wife asked me to visit Millennium Park while we were courting, I was against the idea.
I mean, what’s in a park that is worth leaving my house. On reaching the park, I saw why it was a beautiful idea to spend my 25th birthday in the park.
Fast forward, years later, the park still remains the perfect relaxation spot to hangout in here in the city of Abuja.
It is part of our TimeOut in Nature tour for those who just intend to “touch grass” and enjoy quiet scenery.
Looking for reasons to visit Millennium Park today? I have got a few lined up for you:
1. Entry into the park is free

One of the things I love about Millennium Park is that you don’t have to break the bank to enjoy it. Access into the park is free. Yes, free. You only need to pay if you want to rent a mat, which currently costs ₦300.
So if you are looking for somewhere to just sit, walk around and enjoy nature without spending money, this is one place to consider.
2. It is very family friendly
Millennium Park is one of those places you can visit with almost everybody. Children can run around, parents can relax and the whole family can just spend time together.
It is very family friendly, like very family friendly.
3. It is green, serene and well maintained
Sometimes, you just want to leave the noise of Abuja behind and breathe. The greenery, open spaces and quiet scenery at Millennium Park makes this possible.
The park is also well maintained, which makes spending a few hours there even more enjoyable.
4. It is perfect for picnics
Planning a picnic with friends, family or that special person? Millennium Park is a good place to do it.
Get your food, drinks, mat and a few people you enjoy being around and you are good to go. Nothing too complicated.
5. You can host your events there
Beyond picnics, Millennium Park can also be used for birthdays, gatherings, events and even weddings.
You will however need permission if you want to bring in things like tables and chairs, so make sure you sort that out before your event.
6. It opens from 8am to 6pm
The park opens from 8am to 6pm, giving you enough time to plan your visit.
You can come in the morning, spend a few hours enjoying the park and still have enough time to get on with the rest of your day.
7. It is right in the city centre
Millennium Park is located at 5 Usuma Street, Three Arms Zone, Abuja. This makes it quite easy to access, especially if you are already within the city centre.
So, you really don’t need to travel far to enjoy a little bit of nature.
Conclusion
Sometimes, the best places to visit are the ones that don’t require too much planning. Millennium Park is one of those places.
Whether you are going with family, planning a picnic, looking for a quiet place to relax or simply want to “touch grass”, you should probably visit Millennium Park today.
Who knows, you might just understand why I changed my mind about the park.
