The Abuja Zip Codes and Postal Codes for Abuja Cities, Nigeria

A Zip code, also known as a postal code is a numerical system used by postal services to identify specific locations for efficient mail delivery. In Nigeria, the term “postal code is used instead of “Zip code”. Abuja, Nigeria’s capital has the main postal code 900001, which serves the Central Business District (CBD). However, the city is divided into several districts, each with it’s unique postal code for easy identification and mail distribution.
How Are The Abuja Postal Codes Structured?
Abuja postal codes are structured based on the district and area within the city. The codes follow a 6-digit format, where the first digit represents the region, (9 for the North-central zone, which includes Abuja), while the next two digits specify the district or area council. The last three digits further narrow down the location to specific streets, neighborhoods, or post office branches. For example, central areas like Garki or Wuse have different codes reflecting their subdivisions. This system helps streamline mail delivery location identification across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Abuja is structured into various districts, which are easily selected and categorized into phases, which are the first, second and third phases. On the other hand however, other districts are classified under the “Suburban Districts”, other districts also under the “Satellite Settlements”.
