Abuja’s café scene keeps getting more interesting, and there is a new spot in Guzape that caught my attention: Beehive Café.
I recently visited Beehive Café ahead of its official opening, and what immediately makes this place different from many of the cafés around Abuja is its focus on açaí bowls.
Rather than being another coffee shop with the usual cakes, pastries and drinks, Beehive is positioning itself as more of a lifestyle café centred around açaí, bubble tea, matcha and other refreshing treats.

Beehive Cafe Brings Açaí Bowls to Guzape
The signature attraction at Beehive Café is undoubtedly the açaí.
Açaí comes from the açaí palm, which is native to the Amazon region of South America and is particularly associated with Brazil. The fruit is commonly processed into pulp and used for smoothies and the increasingly popular açaí bowls.

Açaí itself contains plant compounds including anthocyanins and other antioxidants, although how nutritious an individual bowl is will ultimately depend on what is added to it. Toppings, syrups, nut butters and sweeteners can significantly change the nutritional profile of an açaí bowl.
So I wouldn’t necessarily describe every açaí bowl as automatically “healthy.” But for Abuja residents looking for something different from the typical ice cream or milkshake, it is certainly an interesting alternative.

Although açaí appears to be the star of the menu, Beehive isn’t exclusively an açaí shop.

And the popsicle deserves a mention.
I tried one during my visit, and it was genuinely one of the things that stood out to me. It wasn’t like the regular popsicles I’ve had elsewhere. It had a distinctive taste, and I found it really good.
If açaí isn’t your thing, therefore, there are still enough options here to justify visiting.
Bubble tea lovers in particular have another location to check out in Abuja, while people who prefer coffee or matcha aren’t left out either.
What I Like About the Beehive Cafe Concept
Abuja isn’t exactly short of cafés anymore.
From Wuse 2 and Maitama to Asokoro, Gwarinpa and Guzape, new coffee shops and lifestyle restaurants seem to be opening regularly. Because of that, a new café needs something that makes it memorable.
For Beehive, I think açaí could be that differentiator.
Instead of trying to compete purely as another coffee-and-breakfast spot, Beehive has built a significant part of its identity around authentic Brazilian-style açaí sorbet bowls. Its social media material similarly emphasises the Brazilian sourcing of the açaí.
There is also a strong lifestyle element to the space.
It feels like somewhere you could visit with a friend, stop by for a casual date, grab a refreshing drink or simply try something you’ve been seeing on social media.
And because açaí bowls are naturally colourful, they are probably going to become one of those menu items people photograph before eating.

Açaí has a flavour that can be difficult to explain to someone who has never had it. It doesn’t simply taste like strawberry, blueberry or one of the more familiar berries.
